From the sunny Caribbean Islands to Alaska, cruise ships were a way for travelers to visit multiple destinations at once. The cruise industry was booming in 2018 when it was worth approximately $150 billion and carried around 30 million travelers. For even more perspective on how well the industry was doing, from 2005–2019 it saw an annual growth rate of 5.4%.

When COVID-19 reached our shores, it had a devastating impact on the cruise industry worldwide. Each of the three largest cruise operators lost approximately 65 percent of their sales in the first nine months of 2020. COVID-19 crippled this industry so severely that the largest operator by market capitalization, Carnival, posted a $4.4bn loss in the second quarter. It is critical to kick start the cruise industry again to not only bring back jobs and revive the economy but to ensure people can enjoy traveling again with peace of mind.

In effort to do so, today we’re excited to announce our new partnership with Tritan Software Corporation, the cruise industry’s #1 provider of Health Information and Incident Management software platforms. Tritan currently works with 95% of cruise lines including Celebrity Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Royal Carribean International, and Viking Ocean Cruises.

In addition, we’ve also appointed Nedko Panayotov, Head of Strategic Partnerships of Tritan Software Corporation, to our recently-launched Strategic Cruise Advisory Council led by Susanne MacKillop, our director of global business development with over 20 years experience in the cruise industry. In this role, Nedko will advise on our product decisions in the cruise and hospitality industry.

The degree of specialization, technology excellence, service and global experience that the cruise industry demands is quite unique and we’ve been working closely with cruise industry leaders to establish the best-possible protocols to get cruise ships safely sailing again. Our contract tracing software and wearable devices are supporting Tritan’s health management program — “SeaCare” — the first and only complete enterprise software solution for global medical operations in the maritime industry.

Although cruise ships are taking precautionary measures such as temperature checks and COVID testing prior to boarding, these methods aren’t without fault. As you can imagine, passengers or crew may test negative before they board and develop symptoms once the ship sets sail. We want to make sure everyone is safe and healthy every step of the way.

Our privacy-centric software, medical grade security and encryption uniquely position us to meet the stringent privacy and medical requirements on cruise liners and the regions they visit, like HIPAA and GDPR. We’re passionate about reviving the industry that supports hundreds of thousands of jobs and hosts millions of people each year, and are looking forward to setting sail in the near future.
